Title: Every Californian's Guide To Estate Planning Pdf Wills, Trust & Everything Else

Estate planning books often fall into two categories: Those that are overwhelming and full of jargon, focusing on strategies to avoid taxes, or those that provide a general overview of wills, trusts, and estate planning tools and issues at a basic level. Every Californian’s Guide to Estate Planning is different: It focuses on estate planning issues that are unique to people who call California home. California is different from almost anywhere else – people come from all over the world to live here, less than 25% of our families fit the traditional model, property is subject to community property rules, and our property tax rates are kept low until a property changes hands. No other estate planning book on the market addresses international issues, how to plan for blended families, how and why community property matters in an estate plan, or how to pass low property taxes on to your children. Written by an estate planning attorney with more than 15 years of experience, complex issues are explained in clear and concise language with lots of examples based on real life stories. I wrote this book specifically for Californians because we are a little bit different from everyone else. After 17 years of working with hundreds of Californian families to write estate plans that work, I know that we can be a bit more international, live in more complicated families, never marry, own assets all over the world, be in love with our pets, or want to support charitable causes. We can be cash-poor but house-rich, subject to capital gains taxes that only the super wealthy have to pay in other parts of the country.  And all of us need to plan for California's expensive and slow probate process and property tax system that keeps our property tax low until a house changes owners. There are other estate planning books out there, but not one of them addresses Californian's issues specifically. I wrote this book for busy Californians, not tax lawyers or accountants. I use real-world examples that are drawn from the clients I've had the privilege of working with (though I've changed all of their names) so you can benefit from what worked, and what didn't. Unless you are very wealthy (as in the top of the top 1%), your estate plan doesn't need to be super complicated or hard to read. I hope that this book explains everything you need to know to put your plan together, whether you choose to do it alone or work with an attorney. I know that people think estate planning is boring. But it isn't -at its core, it is about giving everything you've got to the people and causes you love the most. Don't make it harder than it needs to be. What are you waiting for? Good luck!

Finally, an Estate Planning Guide Written by and for Californians

Great Estate information specific to California ! I am very pleased with this informative estate planning guide. I have always loved the Nolo books. This one is a must for Californians. My only complaint is that she never mentioned that the Estate tax exemption has been increased to11.4 million per person- 22.8 million per couple. This book should be updated because it is 2019!disapointment same old information, nothing that hasn't been on the talk shows for years.easy for the non-lawyer to follow Well organized, easy for the non-lawyer to follow, comprehensive.A great preparation for a paid meeting with an attorney.
