a few hours of my life I won't get back To me, this book was a litany of self-congratulatory, "me and my kids are so awesome" essays. She led her elementary kids to a new level, yes- and kudos to her for that. However, she didn't have or take advantage of opportunities to lead her campus in any way, until she became an IT specialist. This position, in most districts, is viewed as middle management anyway- so she WAS in a leadership position when she started leading faculty meetings and book studies/paradigm shifts. There would be NO WAY my campus administrator would allow a gen ed teacher to lead a meeting to over 200 teachers about how awesome X is, and we should start using it. Perhaps it should have been titled, "creating more change in small single grade level campuses from a middle management role" . I didn't see anything until page 106 about certain tactics I could TRY on my admin to get them to listen to my ideas (again assuming they weren't too busy to spend more than 5 minutes on me) to a point where I could have some effect on my campus. Very disappointing- and I gave it the old college try- I blundered through the whole thing! Congratulations on your well-earned accolades and accomplishments, Nilli- but this did not help me create change as an educator in my grades 10-12 high school with 8 assistant principals and over 3,000 students.Game changer This book is a game changer. As an administrator, it’s an excellent reminder of the importance of seeing the strengths and leadership potential in every staff member. We are better together and Nili highlights that through her heartwarming, geniuine story telling. This is a great addition to the Leadlap series and a must read!Inspiring and motivating read! This book has inspired me in so many ways! Making change in school can be intimidating and difficult. This book is a wonderful guide for making changes that will impact our students in a positive way! I have tabbed many pages to reference for many different purposes. It is so empowering that my colleagues and I have started a book club to read, discuss, and put our ideas into action! Thank you, Nili Bartley for this powerful book that I will continue to use year after year!
